Juanita Cantu

Juanita Torres Cantú of Shelley age 90 passed away peacefully in her sleep November 27, 2024 at home, surrounded by her loved ones. 

Juanita was born on March 11, 1934 to Hilario & Clara Torres in Brownsville Texas. She was one of 9 children. On April 25, 1954 she married the love of her life Norberto Cantú and together they had 8 children. She was a homemaker for over 20 years and then worked at R.T. Frenche’s and Pillsbury where she continued to work until she retired. She was very active in church and was a matriarch for the Spanish Baptist Mission. She was a prayer warrior that enjoyed having bible studies and serving the hispanic community. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family and cooking for everyone, who she cared most about. 

She is survived by her 8 children. Norberto Jr. (Cricelia) Cantú, Arnold (Oliver) Cantú, Petra (Duke) Arave, Ruben Cantú, Noe Cantú, Paty (Ruben) Gil, Ben (Randi) Cantú and Daniel Cantú, 18 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Norberto Cantú Sr., grandson Joel Bojorquez and 7 of her siblings, 2 brothers and 5 sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 6, 2024 at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak Street, Shelley. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 5th evening from 6:00 till 7:30 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. till 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Cemetery.
