Julia F Kress, 69, passed away peacefully in her daughters home surrounded by her family on Friday, August 11, 2017.
Julia was born on March 4, 1948 in El Centro, California. She was the first of two children born to James Durwood Foshee and Leona Inez Hope. Julia and her younger sister Rita were raised in Rosepine, Louisiana by her paternal grandparents William Robert and Josie V Foshee. They spent much of their youth in Rosepine with their extended family engaged in many activities with their cousins, aunts and uncles. Julia graduated from Rosepine High School in 1966.
While Michael Willis Kress was serving his mission in the Gulf States Mission, he baptized Julia’s best friend Linda. Julia attended Northwestern State College in Natchitoches, Louisiana and Imperial Valley College in El Centro, California. Later Julia moved to Pocatello to attend Idaho State University to pursue a degree in nursing. It was then that she and Michael reconnected and were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 14, 1968. In the beginning of their marriage Julia worked as a CNA to help put Mike through school. During this time they started their family and moved to Firth, Idaho to raise their children. Julia worked at Frenchs/Pillsbury plant and later got a job at the United States Post Office in Shelley, Idaho. Julia worked at the post office and truly loved serving those patrons in Shelley.
Julia’s biggest joy in life was watching her children and grandchildren live and grow.
She is survived by her children, Lance (Tamra) Kress, Burlington, North Carolina, Shauna Howell, Shelley, Idaho, Brian (Randa) Kress, Blackfoot, Idaho, Jamie (Nathan) Messick, Pocatello, Idaho, Heather Kress, Idaho Falls, Idaho; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving spouse, Michael Kress, her grandparents, William Robert and Josie V Foshee, her sister, Rita Foshee and her parents, James Durwood Foshee and Leona Inez Hope.
Julia’s children would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Rahim and his team at the Idaho Kidney Institute for excellent care of their mother. They would also like to send a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Alliance for their compassion and support during this time.
