Julie Kay Hansen, 66, of Shelley, Idaho was surrounded by family as she made her journey home on October 2, 2017 at the home of her sister Rose Marie Johnson in Blackfoot, Idaho.
Julie was born March 3, 1951 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Roy W. and Ruby H. Hansen. She was raised in Kimball, Idaho on a small family farm. She attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho after graduating from Firth High School.
She moved to Fairbanks, Alaska with her sister Jan and started working for the United States Postal Service until she served an LDS mission in Independence, Missouri area. When she returned from her mission she resumed working for the USPS at the Idaho Falls branch and worked there for 35years until she retired.
Julie was a kind and giving person. A talented painter. She loved to crochet and spend time with her family. She was a very dedicated primary teacher. She was loved by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, sister, Janice and brother, Dennis.
She is survived by sisters Nadine Poulson (Stan), Sharron Shaw (John) both of Utah, Rose Marie Johnson (David), her brother John Hansen (Darlene), and Cathy Hansen (Dennis) all of Idaho. Her four step siblings, numerous nieces, nephews, and their children.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the Shelley South Stake Center (675 S Milton). The family will meet with friends Friday evening from 6:30 till 8:00 pm at Nalder Funeral Home (110 W Oak, Shelley) and Saturday morning from 10:00 till 10:40 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Firth Cemetery.
