Lavina Moses Twitchell Jacobs

June 30, 1910 — February 8, 2008

Lavina Moses Twitchell Jacobs, 97, passed away February 8, 2008 in Shelley, ID.  

She was born June 30, 1910, in Smithfield, UT to Jesse Tilton and Lavina Harper Moses.  She grew up in Metropolis, NV, Lost River, ID, and Blackfoot, ID.  She was a graduate of Blackfoot High School. 

She served in the Southern States Mission where she met her future husband, Augustus Twitchell.  They were married in the Logan, Utah Temple December 23, 1940.  They raised their family and successfully farmed in Antimony, UT.  Augustus passed away July 15, 1970.  She married Clifton Rees September 14, 1974 in Provo, UT.  They served a mission together in Vancouver, BC.  He passed away November 2, 1977.  She married Chariton L. Jacobs III on April 12, 1978 in Manti, UT.  They lived in Mount Pleasant, UT., and served a mission in Spokane, WA.  They served as ordinance workers in the Provo, UT Temple for a number of years.  After his death in 1993, she moved to Shelley, ID to be closer to her family.  

Lavina was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in several church organizations.  She loved to cook and travel, and met her third husband on a tour to the Rose Bowl Parade.   At the time of her death, she was under the care of Gina Thompson, A very special thanks to her for her loving care and concern for Lavina over the past 15 months. 

She is survived by three sons, Dennis Leon of Salt Lake City, UT, John David (Nedra) of Ivins, UT, Terry Lamar (Diane) of Shelley, ID; 3 stepchildren, Karen Shelley of Roosevelt, UT, Chariton Jacobs IV (Annie) of Roosevelt, UT, and Annette (Dean) Hansen of Fountain Green, UT; 12 grandchildren; 17 step grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 23 step great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and one sister, Leone Jorgensen of Parma, ID. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, five sisters, and two infant daughters, Lois Marie and Rhonda Jean. 

A viewing will be at Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley on Tuesday, February 12 from 6:30 P.M. to 8 P.M.  Funeral services will be in Antimony, UT on Friday, February 15, 2008 at 1 P.M. at the Antimony LDS Church. The family will visit with friends from 11:30 A.M. to 12:45 P.M. at the church. Interment will be at the Antimony Cemetery.
