Lila Callister Jolley age 95 of Firth, Idaho, died June17, 2006 at Bingham memorial hospital.
Lila was born May 10,1911 in Groveland, Idaho. She was the 3rd of eight children born to Orson Pratt Callister and Annie Francella Jones Callister.
She attended school in Moreland, Idaho where she graduated as valedictorian from the 8th grade and salutatorian from high school in 1929.
Lila met Dwayne Jolley, and on September 24, 1930 they were married in the Logan, Utah LDS temple. They made their home in Kimball, Idaho where they spent their time farming. They had been married for fifty-five years when Dwayne passed away in October 1984.
Her most valuable possessions in life were her husband and 10 children. Every minute of her time was devoted to serving her family; mainly this service came in the form of cooking for her seven hungry boys, who could each down a loaf of bread and jar of fruit as an after school snack. Mom was a fantastic cook she would bake fresh bread every other day, make beautiful cinnamon rolls can many jars of fruits, vegetables, and jams. Her relaxation time was spent in her raspberry patch and flowerbeds bright and early in the morning. She will always be remembered for her homemade root beer and donuts. Her family will also remember her for her raisin filled cookies and her fun taffy pulls on Sunday afternoons.
Lila was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints serving as Primary President, organist, Relief Society Counselor, and as a visiting teacher until after her 80th birthday.
No one will ever know how many lives she has touched as she worked as a foster grandmother for ten years in the Firth and Blackfoot elementary schools. She loved to tell her family stories from the scriptures and of her early childhood.
Dwayne and Lila spent many happy times camping in the mountains. Their favorite place became Mill Creek in Saw Mill Canyon. It has become a tradition for all her posterity to celebrate the 4th of July at Mill Creek. As her husband became ill she dedicated her time caring for him and found new hobbies; knitting and crocheting many beautiful blankets for the new babies, table clothes for those getting married and doilies for all those in between. The crocheted gifts were gifts of love and will always be precious treasures to her family. Lila was an anchor to her family no matter the hardships or trials that came her way she never gave up and her faith never wavered. Even after she lost her sight and had to move from her home; which she loved dearly, she still found ways to express love to her family and those who knew her.
Lila is survived by her 10 children; Joyce (Wayne) Killpack, Merlyn (Marilyn), Darwyn (Deana), Boyd (Verla), Cleone (Myrna), Dion (Kathryn), Alan (Judy), Jolley Anna (Terry) Staples, all of Firth Marla (Sterling) Nelson of Blackfoot, and Bryce (Laurie) Jolley of Firth. 41 Grandchildren, 127 Great Grandchildren, 17 Great Great Grandchildren; Brothers; Rulon of Howe, Idaho and Lovell (Lois) Callister of Blackfoot.
