Linda Mecham

Linda Lee Mecham, 72, of Firth, Idaho died April 21, 2017 at her home peacefully with her loving husband at her side.

Linda was born March 3, 1945 in Rigby, Idaho to Glen and Edna Gneiting. Her family moved to Basalt, Idaho in 1947 where she attended elementary school. Her parents ran the Basalt Store and her mother was the Post Master there. Linda attended 7th & 8th grade in Goshen then in 1957 her family moved to Firth, Idaho where she attended high school.

On September 23, 1960 Linda married Claude Leo Mecham, the love of her life. Out of that marriage they had four children; Leon Claude, Cindy Lee, Brent Lynn and Debra Lee. Linda had 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Linda was a member of the LDS church where she was willing to serve any callings with pleasure.

Linda worked at Miller Produce which is now known as GPOD, and French’s as a young woman to help provide for their family. She stayed very busy with her children being involved in 4-H, FFA, cattle and dog shows, rabbit shows, pig and sheep shows. Later in life she was busy attending rabbit and chicken shows with Claude. Linda was always involved with the Firth Easter Egg hunt with finding herself dyeing hundreds of eggs for the event on many occasions. Linda was Claude’s right hand man in running the Firth Mill and Elevator.

She loved bowling and was on a league or two for several years. Linda enjoyed quilting and sewing but mostly she loved to go fishing and camping and enjoyed time with her family. She was an awesome cook and loved to cook big meals to make sure that you never left with an empty belly. She had many friends and made friends wherever she went.

Linda was preceded in death by both her parents, a daughter, Cindy Lee, and a great grandson, Tade John McClure.

She is survived by her husband Claude, her sons Leon (Dianna) Mecham of Firth, ID and Brent (Wendy) Mecham of Firth, ID and her daughter Debra (Chuck) White of Rigby, ID; her sisters Sandra (Ted) Jones of Idaho Falls, ID and Marcia (Aldon) Swearingen of Idaho Falls, ID; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Kimball Ward Church (744 North 600 East) in Firth. The family will receive friends and family on Tuesday, April 25th at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley from 6:00 to 7:30 pm and from 12:00 to 12:45 pm on Wednesday prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Basalt Cemetery.
