Lois Polson

Pattie Lois Polson, 90, of Idaho Falls, formerly of Shelley, passed from this life to a better one on Sunday, September 02, 2007 at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.  

Lois was born July 11, 1917 in Bunn, North Carolina to Benjamin McClain Mullen and Pattie Christopher White Mullen. She had a wonderful childhood in North Carolina growing up in a large family of nine children. Lois moved to Idaho 62 years ago when she married Gail Levi Polson. They were later divorced.

She spent many years working alongside Gail's parents and his family on their ranch in Wolverine. Years later she still looked back on many of those times with fondness. She went to work for the R. T. French Company in 1958 and retired after twenty-five years of dedicated service.   After Lois retired she returned to her home in North Carolina each year and spent many happy times with her brothers and sister and nieces and nephews who doted on her and catered to her every whim.  She loved traveling and took many trips throughout the United States. She volunteered for many years at the Senior Citizen Center in Shelley. Her friends at the Center were like family to her.  

Survivors include her four children Lois Gayle (Ken) Wrightson, Iona; Sheila Sue (Frank) Carter, Shelley; Pattie Lou (Tom) Arave, Wapello; Arthur McClain (Shauna) Polson, Firth; one brother, William Wallace Mullen of Oxford, North Carolina and 17 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one due in January, also many nieces and nephews, who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, two sisters, and a great grand child.  

Lois was a spunky little lady with a quick sense of humor and true grit, which she maintained until her passing. She never lost her southern accent or her southern hospitality. She was a friend to everyone. She brought life and laughter to those who knew and loved her. She loved babies and little children and especially her grandchildren. She cared nothing for the treasures of this world. She was generous beyond measure; she would give a stranger her last nickel. She truly exemplified the widow's mite.  

We extend our sincerest gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to all of her friends at the Gables Assisted Living Center who loved her and cared for her and to all her friends and neighbors in Shelley and her friends at the Shelley Senior Citizen Center. We also wish to express our deepest appreciation to the doctors and medical staff at EIRMC for their loving care of our mother and concern for our family during this difficult time. Also, to Dr. Brad Erickson and his staff at the Shelley Family Medical Center for the wonderful care they gave to our mother during the past few years.  

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday September 7, 2007 at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley. The family will receive friends Thursday evening 7:00 till 8:30 P.M. and Friday 11:30 till 12:40 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery.
