Lorna Rose Wheeler Wyatt, our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed onto her heavenly home surrounded by her loving family on March 11, 2025. She made friends wherever she went, always had a smile on her face, always knew what to say to make you feel better, gave good advice, and loved her family and friends with all her heart. Lorna will be missed by all and will be in our hearts and memories forever.
She was born in Afton, Wyoming to her parents, Drucilla Rose Merritt and Merle John Wheeler, on June 14,1940. Lorna has five siblings, Merlene (Gary) Leavitt both deceased, Ralph M Wheeler deceased, Emma Elaine (Laren deceased) Hansen, Timothy M (Marge) Wheeler, and Bliss (Aldean) Wheeler. Growing up she lived in Afton, WY, Jackson, WY, and Osgood, ID, always living out of town in farming areas with her family.
Lorna married Lewis (LJ) Wyatt on July 20, 1956 and were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple July 18, 1968, along with their six children. They lived in Osgood, Idaho Falls, and Shelley, ID the first few years. As Lewis was transferred due to work, they lived in many places including Washington, Oregon, Montana, and finally back to Shelley, ID, where they resided until Lewis's passing in 2005. Together they have 6 children. Kathy (Glen) Allred of Ashton, ID, Scott (Julie) Wyatt of Gold Canyon, AZ, Deelynn Wyatt of Kalama,WA, John Wyatt (Deceased), Gary (Laurie) Wyatt of Idaho Falls, ID, and Laura (Michael) Gutke of Iona, ID. Lorna and Lewis's extended posterity are 21 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many church callings throughout her life. Lorna had many talents she shared with her family and friends. She especially loved music and taught herself to play the piano, guitar, and accordion by ear. Those who knew her and heard her play and sing, will miss hearing the beautiful music and songs she shared. Lorna’s other talents were painting, crocheting, needle point, writing stories and poems, shopping, and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed camping, horseback riding, day drives, and road trips. Lorna was a hard worker and wore many hats all while taking care of her family. Throughout her life she worked at a laundromat, as a CNA, cleaned homes, as a sales clerk at a department store, at Pillsbury as a packer, and a care-taker for the elderly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis J. Wyatt, son, John Wyatt, parents, Merle and Drucilla Wheeler, brother, Ralph Wheeler, sister, Merlene Leavitt, two brother in-law’s, Gary Leavitt and Laren Hansen, three sister in-laws, LeeAnn Wheeler, Anita Wheeler, and Evelyne Klingler, son in-law, Mick Albertson, and a great grandson, Stetson Albertson as well as other family members too numerous to list.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude to the team of nurses and staff of Hospice of Eastern Idaho who provided love and care to our sweet, dear mother for the past year of her life. We would also like to extend a thank you to the nurses and staff at Homestead Assisted Living in St. Anthony, ID for their love and care that they provided the past four months.
Services will be held March 24, 2025 at the Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints, Sunrise Ward, 4707 E. Iona Road, Iona, ID 83427. Viewing, that day only, 9:30-10:45 am. Family Prayer from 10:45-11:00 am. Service 11:00 am. Interment at Taylor Cemetery, 720 E. 129 S., Idaho Falls, ID. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley. Anyone wishing to send flowers, may have them delivered to the chapel on Monday morning prior to the service at 4707 E. Iona Rd, Iona, ID, 83427
