Louree Davis Walker, 78, passed away February 2, 2007 at Mount Vernon Assisted Living in Idaho Falls from complications of Alzheimer’s.
She was born September 27, 1928 in Shelley, Idaho, to Francis and Mary Shelley Davis. She grew up in Shelley, attending Shelley High School, Ricks College and Utah State University. After graduating from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics, she taught at the North Dakota Deaf and Blind School in Devils Lake and at the Deaf School in Great Falls, Montana.
She married Earl Grant Walker, June 28, 1956 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They lived in Columbia Falls, Montana raising 4 children.
Louree worked as a homemaker, seamstress, custodian for the post office and as a payables clerk for Anaconda Aluminum.
She was an active member of the community and of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as Primary and Relief Society President and teaching Gospel Doctrine in her deaf wards. She was born deaf and her husband, Earl was her best friend. He died April 26, 1990. After retiring she moved to Bountiful, Utah then to Idaho Falls, Idaho.
She had many talents including sewing, oil painting, and acting (miming). She enjoyed reading, music and walking. She spent many hours at her children’s basketball and football games and track and swim meets. She had many deaf friends and belonged to the Utah Association of Deaf and Deaf Mothers of America.
Survivors include her children; Kirk (Diane) Walker of Layton, Utah, Kim (Jim) Cheff of Columbia Falls, Montana, Keri (Jim) Lee of Tucson, Arizona and Kiris (Doug) Jones of Idaho Falls, Idaho, 14 Grandchildren; Grant, Jamison, Davis and Harrison Walker, Randi, Jimmy, Daryl and Taylor Lee, Shea, Walker, Jace, Chloe, Eliot and Ireland Jones and siblings Norma Dixon of St. George, Utah and Kent Davis of Orem, Utah . She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and 5 siblings.
The family will meet with friends Monday, February 12th from 11:30 to 12:45 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak, Shelley, Idaho. The life sketch will be read at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
