Lynn Dale Wiklund

Lynn Dale Wiklund of Firth, Idaho passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014 in Idaho Falls at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in the presence of his loving wife, friends, and family.

Lynn was born August 5, 1962, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, at the Sacred Heart Hospital, to Dale and Carol Wiklund of Firth, Idaho. He spent his early childhood on a farm west of Roberts, Idaho, and then moved with his family to the Wiklund family farm east of Firth, Idaho, where he lived until his untimely death.

He graduated from Firth High School in 1980. He attended Idaho State University Vocational-Technical School and earned a certificate in diesel mechanics.

Lynn worked as a diesel mechanic and truck driver in the American Falls area and then in Firth. At 18 years of age he was hauling agricultural products as an interstate truck driver. He was noted in the valley for his custom combining services, was mechanically inclined and enjoyed working with his hands repairing and building things. As a truck driver, he hauled everything from 988 Cat Loaders to livestock, including buffalo.

Lynn met Xiau Qin Yu through friends and began corresponding with her in 1998. On March 11, 1999, they were married in her home country of China. On March 11, 2000, after she arrived in America, they had a wedding ceremony witnessed by Lynn’s American friends and family in Firth. Their daughter, Grace Connie, was born in 2007. Lynn was a committed Christian, and attended Calvary Baptist Church in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Lynn was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Milyn Lisa, on December 28, 2000; by his paternal grandparents, Elmer and Adeline Wiklund; and maternal grandparents, Arthur and Alice Mallory.

He is survived by his wife, Xiou Qin, and daughter, Grace Connie of Firth; by his parents, Dale and Carol Wiklund of Firth, Idaho; by three sisters, Dorraine (Dale) Burt of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Yvonne (Randy) Nowland of American Falls, Idaho, Sherree (Donald) Hammer of Rexburg, Idaho; and one brother, Scott (Heather) Wiklund of Firth, Idaho, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Lynn Wiklund will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 11:00 A. M., at the Firth Tabernacle Assembly of God, 235 West Center Street, Firth, Idaho, with Rev. Donald L. Hammer officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Riverview Cemetery in Firth. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, from 7:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. at the Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak in Shelley, and one hour before the service at the church Thursday morning.
