Mabel Rose Cannon

January 26, 1924 — April 22, 2016

Mabel Rose Eaton Cannon age 92, died on Friday, April 22, 2016 at Lincoln Court, in Idaho Falls. She was born in Shelley, Idaho to Zera E. and Alice (Starkie) Eaton and was the fourth daughter and the eighth of thirteen children.

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leland Edward Cannon, her brothers Zera Lavern (Buss), Leland, Vernon (Bill), Melvin, Bobby, Buddy, Val, her sisters Bertha (Stears), Norma (Workman), Evelyn (Rowbury), and a son in law William (Bill) Hampton. Mabel is survived by her daughters, Judy (William (Bill) Hampton), Nancy (Bruce Bradley), Sally (Jay Ellis) and Terri (Mike Larsen)., two brothers also survive her, Joseph (Joe) and Jack.

She was married on May 22, 1942 in the Logan Temple to Leland Edward Cannon. She graduated from Shelley High School.

Mabel was a homemaker, excelled in sports, enjoying baseball and volleyball. She made several trips with family and friends, floating the Main Salmon River in her mid seventies.

She loved dancing, music and singing with her brothers and daughters. She was an excellent seamstress, sewing wedding gowns, formals, tailoring and altering for family and friends.

She loved the outdoors, and had knowledge of the wild flowers. She loved fishing and camping with family and was the Girls Camp leader for many years. She was known far and wide for her good cookies. Mabel was an artist in the mediums of Oil, Colored Pencils and could draw excellently. She loved serving her family, community and held multiple positions, in the LDS Taylor Ward.

She worked on the family farm and with her husband Leland Cannon as well as drove truck in potato harvest. Mabel also worked for the Hyland Green House and Gotch’s Country Green House. She was a draftsman for Bradley Engineer and did drafting by hand. She had a sunny spirit and disposition.

She has left her family with the legacy of strength, endurance and unconditional love and as many family members have said, heaven received an amazing angel.

Funeral services will be held at the LDS Taylor Ward Chapel, 1101 E. 1250 N. Shelley Idaho with Bishop Michael Ball officiating. (3.5 Miles East of Shelley) Saturday at 11:00 a.m. April 30, 2016.

Viewing will be held Friday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak, Shelley Idaho, and 9:30 to 10:40 a.m. Saturday morning at the LDS Taylor Ward building.

Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery.
