It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Malina Dee Nelson after a long courageous battle with cancer on February 12th 2025 in Idaho Falls surrounded by family.
Malina was born July 6th 1961 in Idaho Falls to DeAune Elaine Adolfson and Dale Roy Nelson. She was the baby of the family with 3 older sisters whom she adored and looked up to. She grew up in Firth Idaho where she attended school and spent a lot of her time caring for all the animals that her dad brought home. She was an avid animal lover. Anybody that knew her knew her love for her cats. When she was old enough to begin helping at the Burger Barn that her mother owned, she waited tables, washed dishes, and sang songs to the Jukebox. She spent many hours riding horseback at the river bottoms, where many great adventures were found.
Malina met David Berrett Wells and dated for some time before they married in December 1982. Her pride and joy Kelly Wade Wells was born March 9th 1983. Malina and Dave later divorced in 1990. She spent her time working and being a mother to her son Kelly who was the light of her life.
Malina had decided she had wanted to go back to school to pursue a career in finance and insurance. She married Teddy James Iverson in 1996 . With this marriage she gained two daughters Elise and RaeAnne Iverson. They divorced in 2006. She worked a few various jobs before landing at Johnson Brothers where she had worked 19+ years before retiring. There she met her last love Brian Gray whom she had been dating and living with since 2006 until her passing.
Over the years Malina spent a lot of her time camping, fishing, huckleberry hunting and just being in the mountains with her family and friends when she could. She always looked forward to the Family Campout that was hosted at Graves Creek each summer with all her siblings and their families. There were many laughs and lots of lasting memories created there that will be cherished and reminisced for years to come. She also loved cooking and canning in her spare time.
Malina had 4 grandchildren that she adored and loved spending time with. There was always a good time to be had at the annual "Girls Weekend." Her granddaughters looked forward to this trip each year with her. She loved to be the life of the party.
Over the years with all of her hospitalizations, appointments and treatments Malina received she met so many wonderful people who helped care for her along the way. We thank each and every one of you. I guess you could call her a social butterfly. Being so friendly ran her into a long lost cousin late in her life that she thought of as a brother. He brought a lot of joy to her life. Terry Hjelm thank you for taking her under your wing and loving her like a sister.
Malina is survived by 3 sisters Kathy (Mike) Messick, Karen (Shane) Bragg, Sheri (Carl) Dice, her significant other Brian Gray, her son Kelly (Lindsay Jones) Wells, her 4 grandchildren Jayden Melish, Hailee Wells, Izabella Wells and Maddox Wells
She is preceded in death by her father Dale Nelson and mother DeAune Adolfson
A celebration of life will be held at a later date, once the family has this planned we will get this information updated.
