Margaret Johnson Hansen

Margaret Johnson Heaps Hansen, passed away May 1, 2011, six weeks before her 96

th

birthday.

She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on June 17, 1915 to Carl Gunner Johnson and Hilma W. Wallin Johnson.

She grew up and attended school in Pocatello. She also attended Idaho State College.

She taught school in a one room schoolhouse in Grays Lake.  She also taught in Pocatello.  “Sister Heaps” as she was know by her seminary students, taught in Pocatello.  She was the first release time female seminary teacher for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

She married Roy W. Hansen on August 27, 1966.

She is survived by her children, Luana  Heaps (Gerald) Cluff, Melvin A. (Tamra) Heaps, Ronald N. (Beverly) Heaps, Nancy Heaps (Gary) Havin, Dennis (Cathy) Hansen, Nadine Hansen (Stanley) Poulson, Sharon Hansen (John) Shaw, Rose Marie Hansen (David) Johnson, John (Darlene) Hansen, and Julie Hansen, 55 grandchildren and 115 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, and a sister, Thelma Myler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy W. Hansen, her parents, two sisters and one daughter, Janice.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday May 7, 2011 at the Kimball Ward Chapel (744 North 600 East) in Firth. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 till 8:30 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and 12:00 till 12:40 P.M. before the services at the church.  Interment will be in the Firth Cemetery.
