With great memories and much gratitude, the Children of Margaret Dawn McGary announce the passing of their beloved mother on March 21, 2023. Margaret was born on July 6, 1934 in Saint Anthony, Idaho to George Melvin Brinkerhoff and Nina Valeria Staker.
Margaret was raised in Utah where she met her husband, Dwain McGary. They were married and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on March 6th 1953. They moved to California and raised 5 children. After raising her children, she went back to school and received a Bachelor degree in English.
She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held many callings over her life and with Dwain she served a mission in The Rochester New York Mission. They also served in the San Diego Temple as Ordinance Workers for over 20 years.
She loved to write and even submitted a story to the Church magazine, Friend, where it was published. She lived in California until the death of her husband in 2019 at which time she moved to Spanish Fork, Utah and lived with her son Robert.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dwain, grandson Shawn, her parents, sister, and brother. She is survived by her children, Russell Dwain McGary (Susan), Forest Lake Minnesota, Robert Melvin McGary (Jill), Spanish Fork Utah, Carl David McGary (Hitomi), Mutsuura Japan, Maureen McGary Christensen (Ryan), Anaheim California, Marvin Kent McGary (Stephanie), Medford Oregon, and her brother George Brinkerhoff, Salem Utah. She also has 19 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Visitation and Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday April 8th at Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley. Interment will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
