Maria de Lourdes Ruiz, 72, passed away January 29, 2014 at her daughter’s home in Nampa, Idaho.
She was born May 24, 1941 in Brownsville, Texas to Julian Olvera and Maria Lopez.
She grew up in Brownsville where she met and married Felix A. Ruiz in 1963.
They came to Idaho in 1976 where they raised their seven children.
She worked at French’s, Pillsbury, and Basic American Food in Shelley.
After her retirement in 2002 they moved to Nampa.
She was a virtuous woman and enjoyed going to church as well as fellowship with them.
Her immediate family was always an important part in her life and she loved spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In the midst of all her purple, which was her favorite color, she had a green thumb.
Her other hobbies include cooking, sewing, crocheting, crafts, listening to Christian music, doing puzzles and playing Sudoku.
Most of all she enjoyed mentoring and guiding her family and always made time to lend an ear.
She was blessed with a precious marriage of over 50 years, which she treasured with her husband who never left her side.
She is survived by her husband, Felix of Nampa; children, Felix (Adela) Ruiz Jr. of Shelley; Ric (Veronica) Ruiz of Shelley; Mario Ruiz of Blackfoot; Maria (Robert) Cabello of Nampa; Shellie (Ernesto) Lopez of Nampa; Saul Ruiz of Nampa; Josue (Pricilla) Ruiz of Jerome; 22 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, brother, Simon Olvera and sister, Janie Garcia both of Brownsville, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Daniel J. Ruiz.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 P.M. Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak Street in Shelley. The family will meet with friends Saturday morning from 10:30 till 11:45 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest.
