Marion Moore Leatham

May 12, 1927 — February 1, 2015

Marion Moore Leatham, 87, of Shelley, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2015 at his home.

He was born in Shelley on May 12, 1927 to Levi and Ivie Leatham. He grew up in Shelley, first attending the Taysom School and then graduating from Shelley High School. He was drafted into the Army and served in the occupation forces in Germany and Austria. After returning home, he was called to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Central States Mission.

He married Loaine Moss on September 22, 1950 in Idaho Falls Temple. He farmed in the Shelley area and also worked for Bingham County Road and Bridge. He loved to farm, and always kept a beautiful yard and garden.

After his retirement, he served missions with his wife in the Cleveland Ohio mission, the Family History Center in Salt Lake City, and in the Laie Hawaii Mission. He and his wife were also officiators in the Idaho Falls Temple.  He also served in various capacities in the church throughout his life.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Loaine Leatham of Shelley; daughter, Joyce (H. Lynn) Beck of Shelley; sons, Ron of Oak Park, California and Blaine of Ririe; brother-in-law Roland Gentillon, of Idaho Falls; 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren.

​  He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and three brothers; also his sons Marlon and Neal.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Friday, February 6, at the Shelley Stake Center, 325 East Locust, with Bishop Rick Malan of the Shelley 12

Ward officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm Thursday evening at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 W. Oak St. in Shelley, and also from 10:00 to 10:45 am Friday at the church.  Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery with military rites performed by American Legion Post 93, assisted by the Idaho Honor Guard.
