Mary Lou Hiatt

June 2, 1928 — February 15, 2009

Mary Lou Hiatt, 80, formerly of Shelley passed away February 15, 2009 at the Mallory House in Idaho Falls.            

She was born June 2, 1928 in Dividend, Utah to Mark Tuttle and Leola Billington Cornaby.            

On August 23, 1947 she married James Larkin Hiatt in Modesto, California.            

She worked as a phone operator for over 22 years on the graveyard shift and sold War bonds for WWII.            

Mary was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served most of her life as a primary teacher.            

She was always doing plastic canvas things, knitting, crocheting, and ceramics.

She is survived by her children, Jamie R. (Ralph) Decker of Spokane, WA; Dorothy J. (Darrell) Flint of St. Anthony; Mark J. (Kathleen) Hiatt of Idaho Falls; her mother, Leola Cornaby of Layton, UT; siblings, Gordon (Lucille) Cornaby of St. George, UT; Douglas (Etholene) Cornaby of Layton, UT; Claire (Leland) Olsen of Bountiful, UT; Virginia Miller, Kathleen (Ed) Pitt, and Ronald (Donna) Cornaby all of Salt Lake City, UT; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.            

She was preceded in death by her husband, father, three daughters, Mary Lee Kennedy, Baby Hiatt, and Cynthia Hiatt, one great grandson, Aaron Harris, two brothers, J Boyd and Preston Cornaby.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 19, 2009 at the Thayerwood Ward Chapel (5255 South 5th West) in Idaho Falls with Bishop Richard Dyer conducting.  The family will receive friends Wednesday evening 6:30 till 7:30 P. M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak Street) in Shelley and Thursday morning 9:30 till 10:40 at the church. Burial will be at the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
