Melba Dye Staples

Melba Elizabeth Dye Grout Staples, 96 passed away at her home in Firth, Idaho on October 31, 2014.  She was under the care of Blackfoot Hospice and her daughter Janelle.

She was born on December 23, 1917 to Walter E Dye and Sarah Mary Ellen Crofts.  Melba lived her entire life in the Firth area, graduating from Firth High School in 1936.  She worked several different jobs including Crofts and Hone in Firth, Riverview Hospital in Idaho Falls and State Hospital South in Blackfoot.

She married Harold L. Grout and had 2 daughters.  After his death in WWII she married Lyle J Staples and they had 5 children.

Melba held many positions in the LDS Church, some of which were Primary teacher, Sunday School teacher, and Assistant Ward Librarian.  Melba loved spending time in her gardens both flowers and vegetables.  She loved family time camping and fishing.

She was preceded in death by both husbands and 2 grandchildren.

Survivors are her children, Linda (Vance) Butler, Ginger Scott, Terry (Anna) Staples, JoAnne (Terry) Pharis, Monte (Linda) Staples, Janelle Jones, and Scott (Janet) Staples, 20 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and 19 great great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Shelley Senior Center in her memory.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at the Firth Ward Chapel (744 N 600 E) in Firth. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 till 7:30 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Wednesday morning from 10:00 till 10:40 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Firth Cemetery.
