Meldeane Joy Whitmill

Meldeane Joy Hebdon Whitmill, 78, of Shelley, passed away on October 1, 2010 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls surrounded by her family.

Meldeane was born June 24, 1932 in Taylor, Idaho, a daughter to Melvin Joseph and Florence May (Egbert) Hebdon.  She was raised in Idaho Falls, graduating from Idaho Falls High School. 

She married the love of her life, Boyd Alton Whitmill on May 6, 1950 in Idaho Falls.  They were sealed on June 24, 1977 in the Manti Temple.

Meldeane was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints, where she served in the Relief Society, Primary, Young Women’s, Cub Scouts and as a visiting teacher.  She enjoyed singing, crocheting and quilting and was well known for her homemade candies.  She mainly devoted herself to being a wife, mother and grandmother. 

She is survived by her loving husband Boyd, of 60 years and her 6 children; Theresa Bateman, Shelley;  Brenda (Ken) Thompson, Wellington, CO; Clayton (Connie Serr) Whitmill, Idaho Falls; Julie (Layne) Stark, Lubbock, TX; Jeff (Bridget Coy)Whitmill, Idaho Falls; Celia (Ron) Wells, Winnemucca, NV; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and four sisters; Florence (Kay) Davis, Idaho Falls; Barbara (George) Wewers, Boise; Bernetta (John) Anderson, Idaho Falls; Kathy (Bud) Shepherd, Iona; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Son-in-Law, Hal Bateman; and two sisters, Ramona Hansen and Peggy Ogle.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday October 6, 2010 at the Shelley Stake Center (325 East Locust).  The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 till 8:30 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Wednesday morning 9:30 till 10:40 at the church. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
