Melvyn Roy Kuykendall, 82, of Idaho Falls, passed away on September 14, 2024 in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Melvyn was born March 20, 1942 in Santa Ana, California to Audrey Doris Bishop and Roy Emil Kuykendall.
Melvyn graduated high school in Fresno, CA in 1960. He then worked with his father as a carpenter before pursing his career in the United States Postal Service. He started out as a clerk and went all the way to becoming a Post Master. He retired as Post Master of Idaho Falls, ID in 1998.
He devoted himself to the Church of Christ. He served many positions in the church. He was an excellent minister and teacher. He loved the Lord with all of his might and lived by his word. A very loyal servant that helped many spiritually. He ws a member of the Rotary Club too.
He enjoyed reading the bible and books, hunting, fishing, golf, travel, and enjoying his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and family.
He married Sue Mohler in Fresno, CA on August 6, 1983. They were married for 41 years. She loved him dearly and always will. They made their home in Idaho Falls, ID in 1984. He resided in the house he built from 1992 till his passing.
Melvyn Roy Kuykendall, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, great uncle, and loyal friend was much loved and will be greatly missed.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sue Kuykendall of Idaho Falls, Id; daughter, Terry Aldridge and husband, Eddie of Okemah, OK; son, Wayne Kuykendall of Fresno, CA; nephew, Rod Mohler and wife, Shawn and children, Wade Mohler & Austin Mohler and wife Tasha and children, Wyatt, Addi, Johnny of Shelley, ID; grandson, Alexander Hayes of Okemah, OK and granddaughter, Shelby Flowers and husband JC and their children, Hayden, Reagan, and James.
Melvyn is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Audrey Kuykendall, brother, Kenneth Kuykendall, and sister Ramona Bochta.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, September 19, 2024 at the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley.
