Merrill Waldo Lundberg, 76, of Nampa passed away of natural causes Saturday October 12th, 2013 in Nampa Idaho.
He was born to Waldo and Wilma Lundberg in Roberts, Idaho September 11th, 1937. He was the oldest of seven children (Gale, Kaye, Willie, Patricia, Donald, and Sheldon). He excelled at academics, graduated law school, but preferred a career in teaching. He was in education for most of his life serving as a teacher and principal, as well as coaching basketball, football, baseball, and debate.
Merrill was a talented local sports broadcaster and newspaper editor. He loved reading and learning, and was a lifetime regular on several college campuses as a student and a teacher. He was also an avid outdoors-man, sports enthusiast, and loved horses. Merrill was a retired Army Officer and Veteran, and traveled around the globe during his time in the military. Wearing many hats, he most importantly was a loving husband and father to seven children.
Merrill leaves behind six children (Pam, Dawnie, Curtis, Merrilee, Kaitlyn, and Kenneth), and wife Nita. He was preceded in death by his daughter Jodie Kae.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:30 till 12:45 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Goshen Cemetery with military rites by David B. Bleak Post 93 assisted by the Idaho Honor Guard.
