Mont Dutson

December 17, 1926 — June 1, 2007

Mont Dutson, 80, of Shelley, died of natural causes June 1, 2007, at the Idaho Falls Health and Rehabilitation Center.  He was born December 17, 1926 in Ririe, Idaho, to Clyde Roper and Velma Scott Dutson. 

He attended school in Ririe and joined the U. S. Navy at age 17 during World War II.   He served as a Pharmacists Mate Third Class while stationed in New York.  He received an honorable discharge November 17, 1947.  He worked at the Ririe Grain and Co-Op for a short time for his father.  He received his GED and attended Idaho State University.  He married Carol Lenore Lundquist of Shelley September 21, 1951 in Idaho Falls, Idaho.  They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple December 20, 1962.  He worked for Mountain States Implement as mechanic in Shelley.  He worked for Jolley Building Supply.  Mont owned and operated Dutson’s Pro Hardware for six years.  He was the children’s favorite bus driver for the Shelley School District.  In 1976 Shelley School District #60 needed a school bus mechanic where he worked until he retired in December of 1988.  He served as a volunteer fireman for the City of Shelley.  He ran for and was voted to the office of City councilman in Shelley for 14 years.  

Mont was an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He served diligently as the High Priests Group Leader, ward clerk, in the Stake Sunday School Presidency, and as a faithful Home Teacher.  Mont loved serving in the Temple cafeteria and at the church cannery.  His hobbies included hunting, golfing, and bowling and were an avid fisherman.  He loved to travel with his family.   

He is survived by his wife Carol, the love of his life and also by his son Darrell (Linda) Dutson of Idaho Falls and daughter Linda (Jerry) MacCormack of Shelley.   His surviving grandchildren include: Ryan Dutson, Jennifer Dutson, Mykel MacCormack, Mysty MacCormack, Devin Dutson, Mylysa MacCormack, Kyle Dutson, and Myler MacCormack; sisters Arlene (Ray) DeRoche, Carla (Lewis) Yates, and Carolyn Cheshire.  He was preceded in death by: his father and mother, brother Devon, sister Nona, and granddaughter Teresa Marie Dutson.   

He will be fondly remembered for his loving attitude, never ending sense of humor, and endless generosity.  

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday June, 5, 2007 at the Shelley Eighth Ward church (184 North Park Ave).  The family will visit with friends from 7:00 to 8:30 pm Monday June 4, 2007 at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and from 9:30 to 10:40 am Tuesday June 5, 2007 at the Church.  Interment will be at the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery. Military Rites will be preformed by the Stewart Hoover Post #23.
