Mora Bae Williams Sayer, 89 formerly of Shelley Idaho, passed away at her son’s home in Whidby Island, Washington on April 22, 2014.
Mora was born February 12, 1925 in Shelley Idaho to Sarah Belle Arave and Joseph Benjamin Williams.
She married Merlon Burdette Sayer on March 4, 1942 in Dillon, Montana. They were sealed March 4, 1955 at the Idaho Falls Temple. They lived in Shelley until 1958 when they moved to Mesa, Washington where they lived until 1977 when they returned to Shelley.
Mora is survived by her daughters, Mora Lynne Dixon of Salt Lake City, Kathleen Bourne of Phoenix, Arizona, Melody Jean Inzer of Spokane, Washington and her son, Merlon Brent Sayer of Whidby Island, Washington, 12 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sarah Belle Arave Williams Gillies, and Joseph Benjamin Williams, stepfather Jesse Archibald Gillies, husband, Merlon Burdette Sayer, three sisters, Glenda Fern Larson, Wilma Sarah Waters Edwards, Nyla Belle Chriswell and two brothers, Joseph Ambrose Williams and Rulon Arave Williams, and one great grandson, Conrad Steven Lile.
Mora enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, knitting, crocheting, making quilts, fishing, playing scrabble, and pinochle.
Mora graduated from LPN training in 1967. She was very proud as she always wanted to be a nurse. She worked 1.5 years at the Othello Community Hospital then returned to school and received her RN Associate Degree in 1971. Her daughter Melody graduated from the same RN program the following year. They were the first mother-daughter graduate in Washington State.
Mora worked at Othello Community Hospital for 6 years then at Idaho Falls Consolidated Hospital post partum unit for an additional 7 years.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the Taylor Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night from 7:00 till 8:30 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak Street in Shelley.
