Neil Brent Kelley 78 passed away on Sunday, June 8
th
, 2014 at The Gables Assisted Living Center in Shelley.
He was born on November 4, 1935 to Floyd G. Kelley and Fern Dial Kelley in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
In 1953 he graduated from Shelley High School. He began dating a young woman that would be the love of his life. In November 1955 he married that pretty young woman Delia Louise Park in the Idaho Falls Temple.
Neil was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints. He proudly served his church and received many callings throughout his life such as the Young Men’s Leader, the Bishop of the Young Singles Ward and the Stake and Regional Sports Director. He was always eternally grateful for each and every calling he received.
When he was a young boy he loved sports and his love of sports carried into his adult life. He was most passionate about Baseball and Basketball where as a young man he continued playing sports with the adult teams in his church ward for many years.
Neil and his wife began their lives together in Shelley, Idaho. He farmed with his two brothers in Woodville for 28 years. He learned to master carpentry so that he could craft and build the home that he and his wife lived in for 57 years. With perseverance and determination he wanted to give his beautiful wife all that she ever dreamed of, and by his hard work and determination he did exactly that. During his life farming, he and his wife had 6 beautiful children, 3 boys and 3 girls. When his 3 boys grew into young men, he began farming with them until he retired in 2010. Neil’s life was centered on his family, friends, and his church. One of the greatest highlights in his life was his participation of the 150
th
re-enactment of the Mormon Trail with all of his children and grandchildren by his side. The experience strengthened his testimony of the church more then he could of ever imagined.
Neil loved to ride the horse trails thru Becklar and the Sawtooth Mountain Range with his family and friends. He also took Scuba Diving classes, became certified, and made numerous dives with his sons in Mexico. His life was full of hard work and sacrifice, strong family values, and devotion to his Heavenly Father, these values he also instilled in his children.
His parents, his wife, and his twin sisters precede Neil in death. His four brothers, Gerald, Norman, Karl, and Kendall and two sisters Marilyn Fielding and Marceil Peterson survive him. He is also survived by 6 children, Peggy (Ralph Risenmay), Kathy (Ron Nowland), Becky (Ray Murdoch), Kurt (Tina Kelley), Kris (Janeen Kelley), and Tony (Janis Kelley) also, 28 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
For now we say goodbye to our beloved Father, Brother, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather. You will be forever in our hearts, we love you and we will miss you until we meet again.
