Orson Lynn Broadbent

October 21, 1948 — September 29, 2011

Orson Lynn Broadbent of Homer, Alaska passed away September 29, 2011 in Firth, Idaho at the home of his daughter.  Lynn was born October 21, 1948 in Salmon, Idaho to Donna Leavitt Broadbent and Orson Swainston Broadbent.

After serving a mission in Texas, Lynn returned and found his eternal companion Jackie Lynn Jacobson and they were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on February 11, 1972.  They were blessed with two daughters Wendi Lynn Lane (Jim Lane, Jr., Virginia) and Ruthan Killian (Darren Killian, Firth).

After the Lord took his dear Jackie home in 2004, he was honored to meet and marry Carol Robinson and was excited to add 3 wonderful stepchildren into his life; Camielle Alleman (Matt, North Carolina), Michelle High (Jordan, Firth) and Shea Robinson Broadbent (Madilyn, Alaska).

Lynn and Carol and Shea made their home in Homer, Alaska.  He loved Alaska.  He loved the scenery, the wildlife and the ocean.  He made daily trips to the Ocean with his trusty Lab Suzie.

Lynn has always been a very active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in many callings from scouting to high council to Young Men's President and LOVED every calling, especially the ones involving the youth.

Lynn enjoyed serving other people whether it was hauling wood, tilling a garden or just helping them move he was more than happy to help.

Lynn LOVED the great outdoors.  He enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing and telling stories with family around the bonfires.  There were no strangers to Lynn.  If he didn’t know you, he would soon.

Lynn is survived by his wife Carol, five children, 17 grandchildren, including 2 to be born this spring, his brothers, George L (Carma),  David (Jane) and sister, Inda Bennett (Barrie) and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie Lynn Broadbent, his grand daughter, Jenni Lynn Lane and his parents, Donna and Orson Broadbent.

Lynn was loved by all and will be greatly missed by all the family and friends that he leaves behind.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday October 4, 2011 at the Firth Stake Center (823 N. 675 E.) in Basalt.
