Orville Christensen Cox was born June 22, 1934 in Idaho Falls to Orville Sutherland and Ruth Christensen Cox. He passed away October 27, 2015 in Idaho Falls.
Orville met Ines Gilgen as she was walking on her first day of school at Shelley High School. Her family had just moved there from Switzerland.
He was a graduate of Shelley High School and attended Idaho State University in Pocatello. He served a 2 ½ year mission for the LDS Church in Mexico. When he returned he married his “Swiss Angel” on May 3, 1957 in the Idaho Falls Temple.
He worked on the Cox Honey Farms in Shelley, for J.C. Penney Co., and as a facilities manager for the State of Idaho at the Child Development Center where he was instrumental in building a therapy pool with donated funds and labor. He retired after 32 years as the facilities manager at the Idaho State Office Building.
Orville loved working with the bees and kept his own hives for many years. He had his children work with him and taught them the value of hard work. He purchased some farm land in Idaho Falls and built a home there which he loved. He was known for his good sense of humor and his love for his family.
Orville was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jerry, his sisters Lawana LeBaron, Irene Stewart, Lucy Brunson, and two grandchildren, Janessa Falslev and Bryce Ehlert.
He is survived by his wife Ines, his children and their spouses: David (Judy), Ava (Mark Falslev), Sara (Alan Ehlert), Lori (Matt Isom) Heidi (Darl Kuhn) and Ryan (Suzy); his brothers and sisters Roy, Paul, Merrill, Eunice Penfold, Emma Jean Freeman, Virginia Walker, 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 31, 2015 at the Woodville Second Ward Chapel (1555 North 700 East) I Shelley. The family will meet with friends Saturday morning from 9:30 till 10:40 A.M. at the church. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home.
