Paul Dee Madsen

Paul D Madsen, 76 of Shelley, passed away Tuesday July 10, 2012 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, battling cancer.

Paul was born July 29, 1935 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Lionel P. and Mabel Bassett Madsen.  Paul grew up on his family farm.  He attended Firth High School and graduated in 1953.  Following soon after graduation he joined the United States Armed Forces.   He returned home from serving after 2 years, shortly after he met the love of his life Ila Bertha Tomchak of Roberts.  They were married July 11, 1959.

Paul was a brick mason for over 30 years.  He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Paul enjoyed fishing, hunting, and anything outdoors.  He especially loved spending time in his garden pulling weeds and picking raspberries.

Survivors include his wife, Ila, his children, Kelly (Kim) Madsen of Firth; Anna (Ty) Brewer of Idaho Falls; Jared (Kathleen) Madsen of Idaho Falls; 6 grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sons.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, July13, 2012 at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley.  The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00 till 8:30 p.m. and Friday from 11:30 till 12:40 at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery with military rites by David B. Bleak Post 93 assisted by the Idaho Honor Guard.
