Paul Morris Oler

February 11, 1966 — August 1, 2020

Paul Morris Oler, our beloved dad, granddad, son, brother and uncle, returned to the heavens following a tragic car accident on August 1, 2020. We love him so much and miss him already!

Paul was born on February 11, 1966 to Morris John and Lela Joyce Oler. He was the last of five children and a surprise to everyone, including his parents. His siblings were so excited for the little toe head to join the family! Everyone wanted to hold him and take care of him. As soon as he could reasonably hold his head up on his own, his sister Nancy took him for rides on her stingray bike with the big banana seat.

His nickname soon became Pauly or Polywog just because he was so dang cute. Paul was often seen pulling his new little red wagon around the neighborhood gathering rocks, sticks, bugs, and animals of every kind. He attended school in Shelley, Idaho during his elementary years and later attended Highland High School in Pocatello.

Paul absolutely loved any extreme sports, but was particularly fond of motocross. He also thoroughly enjoyed snow and water-skiing. His favorite pastime, though, was to get in his favorite ride at the time, roll down the windows, crank up his music and cruise to his heart’s content. He considered it the best therapy ever and always felt like a new man when he returned home. His greatest joy, though, was spending time with his kids whom he loved more than himself.

For many years, Paul worked as a roofer in Idaho Falls and in Salt Lake City. He took great pride in his work and was artfully meticulous and skilled at his craft.

Paul had a funny sense of humor, an infectious laugh and a heart-warming smile. He also had many challenges and setbacks in life, but always did his best to face things head on. He was a fighter. He said that if he was ever going to go out, he was going to go “out in a blaze of glory.” And he often did!

Paul is survived by his mother, Lela, his children, Kyle (Maggi) and Kenzie, his grandson, Jett, his sisters, Nancy and Jan (James), his brothers, Rick (Mary) and Roger (Joan), his many nieces and nephews whom loved “Uncle Paul” deeply, and his frisky and darling cat Sammy. Many angels are now rejoicing at his return, specifically his father, Morris John Oler, and his nephews, James Ryan Bentley and Roger Thomas Morris Oler. Love ya tons, Paul . . . until we meet again!

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private family service will be held in his honor.
