Peggy Jo Cook

Peggy Jo Nulph Cook, 51, of Shelley, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 25, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. She fought a valiant, intense struggle against ovarian cancer.



Peggy was born January 29, 1964, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Forrest Hyrum Nulph and Bonnie Jean DeLaMare Nulph. Peggy was the sixth child of seven children and grew up and spent most of her life in Shelley, Idaho.



Upon graduation from Shelley High School she attended Ricks College (now BYU-Idaho) and the Vogue Beauty College. She graduated from the Vogue as a cosmetologist and with an Instructor’s License where she has worked as a part-time instructor for the last 31 years.



Peggy married Bruce Ronald Cook on June 1, 1985, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They made their home in the Shelley area for the next thirty years where they raised two fine sons, Ryan Bruce and Joshua Forrest. She was extremely devoted to her husband and her two sons and later to her daughter-in-law and grandson.



Peggy was a faithful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She had a special affinity of making young people feel loved and accepted. She had a firm and steadfast testimony of Jesus Christ and his teachings. Peggy spent many years working with young people both at work and in her community. Throughout her life she served in the Young Women’s program as president, counselor and advisor. She was a Primary teacher, counselor and Cub Scout leader. She served as a ward missionary and Bishop’s wife. She served on the Shelley Education Board of Directors. At the time of her passing Peggy was serving as an advisor to young adults in the Shelley South Stake young singles adult branch.



Peggy loved going to the family cabin in Island Park, sharing the property with family, friends and those in need. She loved to water ski, swim, garden, and ride motor cycles and snowmobiles. She loved to watch her sons play sports and watch football and basketball games. Holidays were like magic around Peggy’s home. She loved to make the holidays special for her family and visitors.



Peggy is survived by her devoted husband, Bruce Ronald Cook of Shelley; children, Ryan (Angie) Cook and Joshua Cook, both of Idaho Falls;



siblings Claudia (Nolan) Clayson, and Max (Sandra) Nulph, both of Firth, Shirley (Byard) Cox and Lynn Nulph, both of Iona, and Todd (Janet) Nulph of Shelley; one grandchild, Aiden Ryan Cook of Idaho Falls.



Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Alan Wilford Nulph.



Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 1, at 11 a.m. at the Shelley Idaho South Stake Center, 675 South Milton Avenue. The family will meet with friends Tuesday, March 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Nalder Funeral Home, 110 W. Oak Street in Shelley and from 9:30 to 10:40 a.m. at the church prior to the services. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
