Richard “Dick” Carter, 82, passed away July 9, 2017.
Richard Ellis Carter was born to Ronald V. and Velma Priest Carter in Shelley on May 1, 1935. He was the 4th of seven children. He attended schools in Shelley. Dick served in the Army during the Korean Conflict from 1954 – 1957.
On April 6, 1954, he married Dorothy Grover. Together they had 4 children. They were later divorced.
Dick married Debbie Hagen on January 26, 1991 in Elko NV. After the military, he was a professional driver, driving for Skyline Trucking, Max Kerr Trucking and Grover Trucking. In 1963, he started driving bus for the Atomic Energy Commission (INL). He drove for them for 32 years. After retiring from the site, he continued to drive truck for his son Greg, Triple G Excavating and any others he could help. He loved to stay busy.
He enjoyed riding horses, camping, taking road trips on his motorcycle and spending time with his family.
Dick is survived by his wife, Debbie, children, Guy Carter (Marylin), Greg Carter (Cheryl), Tami King (Kevin), Kelly Carter (Laura) and Jason Hagen. 18 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jim Carter and Frank Carter and sister, Lucille King.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Nalder Funeral Home (110 W Oak) in Shelley. The family will meet with friends Saturday morning from 9:00 till 10:40 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery with military rites by David B. Bleak Post 93 and the Idaho Honor Guard.
