Richard Leroy Moore, 73, of Shelley passed away August 30, 2016 after a sudden bout with cancer.
He was born on January 10, 1943 in Sterling, Colorado to Clifford and Dorothy Biggs Moore.
Rich’s father passed away when Rich was 10 years old.
He, his mom, and sister moved to Greely, Colorado to live with his mother’s parents.
Here is where Dorothy met and married Orville Knoll.
The family grew to include Orville’s three children.
Rich graduated high school in Fort Morgan, Colorado.
He then graduated from Colorado State with a Master’s Degree of Science (and almost completed his PHD) in Civil Engineering.
He started out in Aerospace Engineering and worked on the Apollo 16 Mission.
In 1973 he accepted a position at the INL as a Thermodynamics Specialist working with computer models.
He published several papers in Thermodynamics.
He was involved in the investigation of Three Mile Island meltdown.
On January 21, 1983 he married Linda Lent.
They made their home in Shelley.
In 1998 he and Linda worked in Japan with the Japanese government on a project involving computer coding.
After 40 years in the nuclear industry he retired as Senior Engineering Specialist.
Rich enjoyed golfing, reading, extensive worldwide travel with Linda, and was a member of the South East Idaho Corvette Club.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Moore of Shelley, four children from a previous marriage, Greg (Kathy) Moore, Lance (Kim) Moore, Michelle Moore, and Scott Moore all of Colorado, step children, Michelle Brewington, Mike (Jeni) Griffin, Mark (Crickett) Griffin, Monte (Janet) Griffin, Mindy Bond, 22 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step father, sister, Jeanette Frasco, and son in law, Tom Brewington.
Per his wishes there will be no services.
The family will celebrate his life at a later date.
His family and friends will miss him dearly.
