Rick G Barton

Rick G Barton, 70, of Richfield, UT, passed away on September 19, 2023.

Rick was born on September 7, 1953, the fourth of seven children, to Byron and Marcella
Barton in Shelley, ID. After attending Nampa High School in Nampa, ID, he began his career as a
Welder/Master Mechanic. He always had a very mechanical mind and was very talented at
fixing and repairing absolutely anything. He was a fast learner, and it did not take long for him
to make his way up the ladder. When he felt there was nothing more he could learn from a
company, he would move to one that better suited him. “If you’re not happy with your job, find
one you will be.”

In 1973, he met his first love Yvonne Frandsen, and they married on December 7 th , that same
year. Shortly after marriage, Rick decided to join the United States Marine Corp, where he
served a full tour and was honorably discharged in 1977. During his service, Rick and Yvonne
had a son, Zane. Shortly after, they had a daughter Hailey. Two years later arrived identical twin
girls, Raquel, and Reagan. Rick and Yvonne were married for 20 years, and although the
marriage didn’t last, they remained good friends.

During his life, Rick spent his working years in the construction and trucking industries, where
he became well-known to others within the profession. He found love again in 1991 when he
met Michelle Johnson, and they later married and were together for 15 years before her
passing. Then, in 2006 after many years of friendship, Rick and Doris Sutton fell in love and
combined their lives and were able to build a beautiful home together in Richfield, Utah. This
was definitely his happy place where they shared many loving memories together. The two of
them remained hand in hand until his last breath.

While Rick never fully retired, when he wasn’t working, he spent his time at home with Doris
playing with their dogs and he loved “watching his horses walk” in the pasture from his deck.
He enjoyed taking on home improvement projects, hunting, and reloading ammunition for his
guns. More than anything he always made time for his family and loved it when his kids and
grandkids would come to visit him.

Rick was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Reagan, brother Ronnie, and parents
Byron and Marcella. He is survived by his children Zane, Hailey and Raquel, his grandchildren
Greenlee, Jefferson, Ethan, and Kenzington, his sweetheart, Doris. His sister Linda, Sheila,
Kathy, Susan, and Karen. As well as his beloved pets.

To honor and remember Rick, there will be a viewing from 9:00 to 10:45am followed by funeral
services at 11:00am on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak,
Shelley, ID 83274.

Last but certainly not least, he beat the IRS… Beep, beep, beep ________________________
