Robert James Lien

Robert "Bob" James Lien, 56, died Mon. Nov. 21, 2011, at his home in Shelley.  

Bob was born Nov. 7, 1955, in Elgin, Illinois, to James and Jaqueline Lien, the youngest of four children.

     Bob will be remembered as a kind and loving father, husband, brother, and son.

     After graduating from Addison Trail High School, Bob worked for Miller Fluid Power and Parker Hannifin as a Quality Inspector.

     In 2005, Bob moved to Shelley, where he continued his career at the Idaho National Lab until the time of his passing.  

     Bob joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1999, and actively participated within the church until his passing.  In 2003, he was sealed for time and all eternity to his wife Debra (nee Kirsch) in the Chicago, Illinois Temple.

     Bob was a passionate chef in the home and enjoyed preparing meals for friends and family.        

     His competitive spirit made him a favorite to win the annual family cooking competition each year as Bob would spend months mastering the dish he would submit.

     Bob was an avid sports fan and loved watching his Bears and White Sox play.  Even after he moved away from the Chicago area, Bob was sure to follow the scores and watch the highlights of his favorite teams.  

     Bob enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, building his music collection, and discussing politics, sports, and the latest news.  His kind demeanor and good nature made him easy to talk to and fun to be around.  

     Bob is survived by his wife Debra, his son Nicholas (Nikki), his grandchildren Leah and Kylie, his siblings Janet (Les), and Steve (Donna), his parents James and Jaqueline, his step-children Clint (Tera), Heath (Sarah), Rhiannon (Kevin) and Allie (Chris), and nine step-grandchildren.

Bob is preceded in death by his sister Linda.

     Funeral Services will be held December 3rd in Phoenix, AZ and at 10:00 A.M. on December 6th at the LDS chapel, 1929 W. 1500 N., Lehi, UT. Local arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley.
