Ronald Edward Miles

Ronald Edward Miles, 67, of Shelley, passed away February 26, 2012 at Bingham Memorial Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Blackfoot surrounded by his loving family.

He was born May 5, 1944 in Shelley, Idaho to Angus Edward and Norma Conder Miles.  He spent his childhood in Goshen and graduated from Firth High School in 1962.  He also graduated from ISU and Nevada Community College with dual Associate Degrees.

He married his sweetheart Eudora Dee Barton in the Idaho Falls Temple on December 5, 1970.

Ron enjoyed working 36 years in Quality Assurance in the Potato Industry.  He started working for R.T. French Company in Shelley.  He transferred to Winnemucca, Nevada where he worked for six years then returned to Idaho and worked for Pillsbury.

He gladly served as Treasurer of the United Way, President of the Shelley Chamber of Commerce, and a CPR instructor for the Red Cross.  He organized the potato give away at Spud Day for many years.  He also served on the Shelley School Board.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served in several Bishoprics, as a High Council Member, Stake Executive Secretary, but his favorite calling was as a Primary Teacher.  His last earthy calling, he valiantly served as a missionary at the Family History Center in Idaho Falls.

His favorite activities where hunting, fishing, camping with family, and watching and playing with his grandchildren.  He will always be known for his sense of humor and ability to tell a good joke.

Ron is survived by is wife, Eudora Dee Miles of Shelley; four daughters, Shandra Dee (Ty) Averett of Blackfoot; Camille Dee (Cory) Meyer of Layton, Utah; Kara Dee (Jon) Boll of Shelley; and Jennifer Dee (Mike) Arave of Shelley; one son, Devin Edward (Megan) Miles of Laveen, Arizona; his mother, Norma Miles of Shelley; siblings, Marvin Miles of Blackfoot; Beverly Matheson of Layton, Utah; Wesley Miles of Seattle, Washington; Jenada Longhurst of Bountiful, Utah; and 15 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Angus Miles and one grandson, Dillion Michael Arave.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 2, 2012 at the Goshen Ward Chapel (792 N 1090 E). The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00 till 8:30 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Friday 9:30 till 10:40 A.M. before the services at the church.  Interment will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
