Ronald Eugene Oswald

Ronald Eugene Oswald, 82, of Idaho Falls passed away August 14, 2013.

He was born April 2, 1931, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Louis F. and Rosie Neff Oswald. Ron was raised with three brothers, Kenneth, Deloy and Allen, in Shelley, Idaho where he attended school.

In 1951, Ron served a mission for the LDS church in the Central States. He enlisted the Army serving from 1952-1955 at Fort Ord, California, where he was honorably discharged.

Entering Ricks College in 1956, he met and courted Dawn Loveland of Granger, Washington. They were married in the Idaho Falls LDS temple, August 2, 1956. They made their home in Pocatello, Idaho, where Ron completed his Bachelor of Science degree and began work as an engineer for Idaho National Laboratories until he retired in 1992 after over 35 years.

In addition to his occupation, he was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various callings including Bishop, High Council, Primary and Scouts, while raising their children in Shelley, Idaho, and then moving to St George, Utah for 12 years.

Ron and Dawn served a mission in Thailand/Cambodia, and later, two missions in St. George with member location.

Ron is survived by his wife, Dawn; a brother Kenneth Oswald Las Vegas, Nevada; a brother Allen Oswald of Shelley, Idaho; and his six children, Sandy (Alan) Cooper of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Mark (Cyri) Oswald of Rigby, Idaho; Craig (Wendy) Oswald of Blackfoot, Idaho; LuRose (Tony) Mecham of Shelley, Idaho; Brad (Kris) Oswald of Ammon, Idaho; Ronda (Zach) Ragan, of Erda, Utah; 26 Grandchildren and 18 Great-Grandchildren, with four on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Jeffery Ron Oswald, his brother, Deloy Oswald and his great-granddaughter, Nora Chappell.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, August 19, 2013 at the Shelley First Ward Chapel (184 North Park Ave). The family will visit with friends and relatives on Sunday evening August 18 from 6:00 till 7:30 PM at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Monday morning from 9:30 till 10:40 at the church. Interment will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery with military rites by the David B. Bleak Post 93 of Shelley assisted by the Idaho Honor Guard.
