Ronald “Ronnie” I. Carlson, 76, of Blackfoot passed away September 2, 2018 at Bingham Memorial Extended Care in Blackfoot.
He was born August 27, 1942 in Snoqualmie, Washington. He grew up on the farm at Tyhee just north of Pocatello and attended school at Tyhee, Alameda, and Pocatello High School.
While in the ninth grad he got his first job working at a root beer stand. Along with learning to cook at home it started his career in the food hospitality service.
After serving three years in the U.S. Air Force his career continued in California, Gulf of Mexico, South Carolina, Island of Bimini and all the way to Greenland. Then on to the Oregon coast at Depot Bay. In 1995 he kindly came back to Idaho. He became the Banquet Director at the Stardust in Idaho Falls.
Ronnie always had a smile and was friends to everyone. In 1999 he had cancer removed and was cancer free until January of 2018. He lived at Bingham Housing in Blackfoot for 18 years, then to the Bingham Memorial Extended Care Center in May of 2018 where he passed away after a very hard battle.
He is survived by his sister, Cheryl Kennedy of Blackfoot, sister in law, Joan Carlson of Kearns, Utah, one grandchild and many nieces and nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar E. and Eula I. Fackrell Carlson and son, Troy I. Carlson, sister, Ina L. Hebdon, brother, Alvin Carlson.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Sunday, September 30, 2018 at the Grove City Cemetery in Blackfoot. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley.
