Ruel Vernon Dye, 76, passed away on Jan. 2, 2010, at home in Idaho Falls.
Ruel was born in Firth, ID, on June 23, 1933 to Malden and Ruth Dye. After graduating from Firth High School, he attended Ricks College. He then served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Western States Mission.
After completing his mission, Ruel was drafted into the United States Army for active service duty in Germany for two years. He continued his military service as a Sergeant in the Army Reserves for an additional four years.
Ruel married Carla J. Anderson on Dec. 19, 1958, in the Idaho Falls Temple. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Utah State University. Ruel was employed in managerial positions for engineering firms at the INEL for the duration of his career.
Ruel is survived by his wife, Carla Dye of Idaho Falls; his eight children: Eric Dye of Idaho Falls, Joel (Susan) Dye of Corydon, IA, Eliot (Cathy) Dye of Firth, Samuel (Lorie) Dye of Rigby, Alicia Dye of Idaho Falls, Angela Dye of Idaho Falls, Anthony (Ruth) Dye of Billings, MT, and Cara (Scot) Shimizu of West Jordan, UT; nineteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Ruel was a faithful member and high priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saint. He was a remarkable person and lived an extraordinary, exemplary life, beloved of family and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Taylor Mountain Stake center, 260 Castlerock Ln, Idaho Falls, ID. The family will receive friends before the services from 9:30 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. Interment will be in the Firth Cemetery with military rites by David B. Bleak Post 93. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home.
