Rulon Thain Jensen, 82, of Firth passed away July 23, 2006 at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Pocatello.
He was born March 15, 1924 at Basalt, Idaho to Rulon M. and Mary Ellen Singleton Jensen. He attended school in Basalt and also Firth High School.
Thain served in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1946. He served during WWII in the South Pacific Islands.
On October 21, 1948 he married Evelyn Marie Lockyer at Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Most of his working years were spent farming and ranching. He worked for Gary Fielding Farm at Rising River for 25 years. He spent a lot of time in the Rawlins and Brush Creek area. He loved fishing with family and his grandchildren. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Jensen of Firth, two daughters, Juanita (Ralph) Olsen of Shelley and Toni (Jack) Lopez of Firth, one son, Rulon Ted (Jenny) Jensen of Firth, one sister, Verda Daw of Osgood, two brothers, Merle (Sharlene) Jensen of Idaho Falls, and Ronald (Nada) Jensen of Basalt, 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Charles Thain Jensen and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday July 26 at 11:00 A.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening 7:00 till 8:30 P.M. and Wednesday morning 10:00 till 10:40 A.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Basalt Cemetery with Military Rites by Stewart Hoover Post #23 of Blackfoot.
