Sharlene (Charlie)Wattenbarger, 77, long time native of Shelley, Idaho died peacefully at Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George Utah from complications following surgery on March 11, 2018.
Sharlene was born on April 21, 1940 at Eaton’s Maternity House in Shelley, Idaho to Zimmira (Jerry) and Carma Palmer. Sharlene was the third of four children, she attended schools in Shelley, Idaho.
She pursued a career as a beautician, receiving her cosmetology license from Grooms Beauty School in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Sharlene worked at Verna’s Beauty Salon in Shelley.
On December 19, 1972 Sharlene married Dewayne Wattenbarger, to this union Sharlene brought a daughter Carlena Marie from a previous marriage. Their marriage was later solemnized in the temple. Years later Sharlene decided to pursue a different career and became a State of Idaho Potato Inspector. Sharlene worked at Pillsbury in Shelley until she was medically retired in 1988 due to a back injury. After retirement Sharlene maintained the home while Dewey was on the road driving his semi-truck. Upon Dewey’s retirement the two sold the house they had lived in for so many years and decided to travel. Their adventures took them to St. George and Arizona during the winter months, and camping at Blacktail and Island Park during the summer months.
Sharlene loved to knit and crochet, she would make slippers and dish rags for her friends and family members. Sharlene and Dewey also enjoyed riding in their side by side with their two dogs Ginger and Shelbie. Sharlene’s pride and joy were her two grandchildren Alex and Weslee, and her great grandson Axel.
Survivors include Sharlene’s husband Dewayne (Dewey), her daughter Carlena (Adam) Bowcutt, her grandchildren Alex (Lisa)Bowcutt and Weslee Bowcutt, great grandchildren Axel Bowcutt and Riplee Bowcutt, her sister Donna and many nieces
and nephews. Sharlene was preceded in death by her parents Zimmira and Carma, and brothers Robert and Jerald.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 16, 2018 at the Shelley Stake Center (325 East Locust Street). The family will meet with friends Thursday evening from 6:00 till 7:30 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) Shelley and Friday morning from 10:00 A.M. till 10:45 A.M. at the church. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
