Sharon E. Sollis

Sharon Elaine Thompson Sollis, 65, of Shelley, died of natural causes in Bountiful, Utah, Oct. 18, 2010 at Lakeview Hospital.

She was born Nov. 2, 1944 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the oldest child of Allan H. and Lorene Sage Thompson. She grew up in Jameston and attended elementary school at the Jameston School.  She attended junior high and high school in Shelley and was a straight A student.

She married Robert Sollis April 6, 1962 in Shelley. Together they had five children and lived their entire married life east of Shelley. They operated a cow-calf operation and spent many happy hours on their ranch.

She was a very loving, kind and sensitive mother who loved her family very much.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a visiting teacher for many years and was also a Primary teacher.

She is survived by her mother, husband, sons, Allan (Kelly) Sollis, Todd Sollis, Ryan Sollis, all of Shelley; and Justin Sollis of Roy, Utah; and one daughter, Susan (Bruce) Searle of Lehi, Utah; and nine grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sisters Joyce (Kenneth) Balmforth of Idaho Falls; and Marianne (Kreg) Snarr of Rigby; and brother Ted (Shirley) Thompson of Shelley;  mother-in-law Ritta Sollis of Shelley; and sister-in-law Jackie Sollis of Idaho Falls.

She was preceded in death by her father, Allan Thompson and her father-in-law, Paul Sollis.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 22, at the Shelley LDS South Stake Center, 675 South Milton, with Bishop Marvin Harker of the Mountain View Ward officiating. The family will meet with friends Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak, in Shelley and Friday morning from 9:30-10:40 a.m. at the church.  Burial will be at Taylor Cemetery.
