Shirley Jeanette Mecham

Shirley Jeanette Mecham passed away May 25, 2013 at The Gables Assisted Living in Ammon.

Shirley was born in Firth, Idaho to Hershell Lyon Mecham & Marion Ellen Anderson. She was raised in Firth & graduated from Firth High School. Shirley loved to cook, decorate cakes, crafts, playing cards, singing with her sisters at weddings and funerals, embroidering, and crocheting which she did up to the time of her death to make sure every child & grandchild had an afghan from her. She loved sending balloons in everyone's birthday card & driving fast.

Shirley was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was willing to help & be of service to everyone. She worked several years in the Foster Grandparent program, was known as "grandma" and was loved by all the children.

Shirley is survived by her six children: Gene (Cindy) Bridges of Moore, ID; Holly Bridges of Mackay, ID; Chuck Mecham of Denver, CO;   Malene Bridges of Shelley, ID; Joe Bridges of  Filer, ID and Steve (Kristy) Bridges of Castleford, ID; 42 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren & her two sisters-Allene Lyon of Ammon, ID and Lynada Creeze of Firth, ID.

She is preceded in death by an infant son, her parents and her brother Vergene.

The family would like to thank The Gables, Aspen Home Health & Dr. Wm Eder for their care and kindness.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the Firth Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley
