Shirley Afton Lundquist

Shirley Afton Harker Lundquist, 88, of Shelley, Idaho passed away May 20, 2023 at the Gables Assisted Living Center, surrounded by her children.

She was born on May 13, 1935 in Idaho Falls to Norman and Afton Harker. 

Shirley lived her childhood in a little white house on Jamestown/Taylor Road. She graduated from Shelley High School.

After graduation she met Kenneth Dial. They were married in October of 1953. They moved to Seattle Washington. From there she and Ken lived in Payson UT, Salmon, Mud Lake and Rigby. They were later divorced. 

A few years later after moving back to Shelley she married Ronald Lundquist in October 1976. Shirley loved being back home. She was a hard worker and had many jobs. There was nothing she couldn't do. She loved serving in the 1st Ward and held several callings. She and Ron served missions at Idaho Falls Temple and Calgary Canada. She had a passion for the gospel playing the organ and gardening.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Ron, Daughter-in-law Shauneen Dial and great granddaughter, Kelsie Bloxham. Her parents, sister Carol Ann and her brother Edward.

She is survived by her children; Alan (Tammi) Dial, Shelley, Paul ( Deanne) Dial, Idaho Falls, Susan (Mickey) Hall, Paso Robles, CA, Kathy Edwards , Lynchburg VA, Kevin (Yvette) Lundquist, Idaho Falls, Barbara (Greg) Nelson, American Fork, UT, Randy (Christine) Lundquist, Shelley, 32 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. 

A special thanks to Gables staff in Idaho Falls and Hands of Hope Hospice. And Cheryl who became a friend and gave Shirley amazing care and love. 

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at the Shelley First Ward Chapel, 184 North Park Ave. The family will meet with friends Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:45 A.M. at church. Funeral arrangements in under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery.
