Steven B Christensen, age 65, passed away on February 6, 2025, in Shelley, Idaho, at home surrounded by loved ones after a courageous 15-year battle with kidney cancer. Born on July 30, 1959, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Rolan and Wanda (Bowler) Christensen, he was the proud brother of six siblings. He loved the Shelley community and always lived within a couple of miles of where he grew up. He graduated from Shelley High School in 1977.
The old saying, you will never meet your spouse by knocking on their door couldn’t have been farther from the truth. Steven met Lisa Nielson when he stopped to see who owned the latest muscle car in the neighborhood. They were later married in Shelley on September 17, 1983, and together they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Their eternal bond was sealed in the Bountiful Temple on January 23, 2016. Together, they raised three wonderful daughters—Jessica, Samantha, and MaKenzie—and cherished all of their four-legged kids.
Steven had a deep love for the outdoors. Whether he was fishing with his girls, camping, or trail riding, he found peace in nature—though the temperature had to be just right: not too hot, not too cold, all you needed was a light jacket. He was also known for his fun and light-hearted nature, often spinning cookies in the road on his tractor while plowing neighbors' driveways in the winter. When he wasn’t outdoors, you could find him tinkering in his shop, relaxing in his recliner watching YouTube, or adding to his collection of “stuff.” His sense of humor was contagious, and he was famous for his funny t-shirts and the amusing ways he would often answer the phone. He was a loyal member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in numerous callings, always eager to help others. His sense of kindness, and compassion touched the lives of everyone who knew him.
Steven was a man of remarkable strength, courage, and resilience. He worked for Souths (Dome Technologies) traveling all across the United States, and for 36 years between Jolley’s and Builders FirstSource. No matter where he worked, he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He spent his life proving his strength, and even after battling cancer for 15 years, he never gave up without a fight. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa; daughters Jessica, Samantha, MaKenzie; his beloved grand'fur'baby Zoey; siblings Max (Ann) Christensen, Helen (Calvin) Pirtle, Carl (Gina) Christensen, Norma Christensen, Donna (Tom) Wuthrich, brother-in-law Don Nielson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, DeVerl and Gerrie Nielson; his brother, Gary Christensen; brother-in-law Owen Cramer; and nephews Alan Christensen and Kevin Cramer.
