Sylvia Thompson

December 8, 1940 — December 6, 2011

On December 6

th

, 2011 Sylvia Harker Thompson, slipped quietly from the cares and loves of this world to join those she loves in the next life.  Sylvia was a patient, hard working and dedicated daughter of God – spending countless hours working to know her ancestors and to provide them with the blessings of God.  Still, she made time to be a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother.  Her example of hard work, church service, love of music and self-sufficiency will endure in the lives of her family and many other lives she touched.

Born to Hallace and LaVerne Harker on December 8, 1940, she was raised in Shelley, Idaho.  There she worked on the family farm and attended school.  She was editor of the school newspaper, played French horn in the band and was chosen by her peers as Miss Shelley High School in 1959.  Sylvia married Roland John Thompson on December 29, 1960.

Sylvia is preceded in death by her father, Hallace Werner Harker, her brother, Marlo Hallace Harker and grandson, John Thomas Tueller.  She leaves her genealogical research legacy and love of gardening to her children:  Renard John Thompson (Jo), Lisa Laray Clark, Michelle Tueller (Tom) and Mark H Thompson (Rhonda) along with 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  She is survived by her mission companion and husband of 51 years, Roland John Thompson, her mother, LaVerne Elkington Harker and her sisters, Claudia Marie Thompson (Charles), Jerryldine Snarr (Dee) and Harriet Madden (Michael).
