Ted Call Waite

Ted Call Waite, 67, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away Sunday morning, July 23rd, at Teton Post Acute Care & Rehabilitation in Idaho Falls.

Ted was born in 1949 in Shelley, Idaho, to Luetta Call Waite and Garold M. (Gabby) Waite. He lived in the Shelley area with his parents and two sisters, Dixee and Teena, for his entire childhood.

Ted graduated from Shelley High School in 1967 and went on to serve an LDS mission in New York. Shortly after he graduated from Rick’s College with a degree in Humanities.

Ted married his high school sweetheart, Colleen Cox, in 1970. Ted and Colleen lived in the Jameston area and farmed there for many years. They had four children, Kimberly, Joshua, Zachariah, and Amada, during their 28 years together.

During the course of his life Ted was a farmer and a salesman for various organizations. He worked hard at whatever job he had until he was unable to work because of pervasive health problems.

Ted was a charismatic, adventurous, athletic young man and he remained so throughout most of his life. He had a creative mind and loved to do and learn about all kinds of things. He had many hobbies and passions throughout his life including playing basketball and football, playing bass guitar, piloting airplanes, scuba diving, boating, fishing, waterskiing, working toward a black belt in karate, driving cars, reading and studying (particularly about World War II), drawing and star gazing.

Many people who knew Ted will remember him as being fun-loving, spontaneous, funny, and full of life. This is how his friends and his family will remember him.

Ted is survived by his children, Kim (Travis) Johnson, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Josh (Colleen) Waite of Shelley, Idaho; Zac (Genice) Waite, of Shelley, Idaho; and Mandi Street of Shelley, Idaho; 10 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held for Ted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, at Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery in Shelley, Idaho. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley.
