Larry “Ted” Whitmill, 78, of Shelley, Idaho; beloved father and grandfather passed away peacefully on December 17, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
Ted was born in Shelley, Idaho on February 2, 1939 to Lee and Ida Prophet Whitmill. He attended school in Shelley. While in school he enjoyed football, baseball, basketball and track. He lettered in those sports his junior year of High School. After High School, he enlisted in the Army for three years.
After arriving home from the Army in 1963, he went to work for R.T. French Company which later became Pillsbury and Basic American where he worked for 41 years.
On August 31, 1965 he married Marilyn Cox in Las Vegas. They then shared 52 wonderful years together. After their marriage the couple moved to Shelley and later moved to Jameston where they have resided for 51 years. In 1968 the couple was blessed with their first daughter, Audrey. Three years later, they were blessed with another daughter, Jan.
Ted enjoyed many things such as spending time in the mountains, camping, dancing, hunting, horse racing, and most of all, spending time with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ted is survived by his wife, Marilyn and his loving daughters, Audrey Whitmill of Shelley and Jan (Ryan) Schmitt of Shelley, sister, Marlene Crow, grandchildren, Austin (Katie), Tallie (Brookx), Kaden, and great grandchildren, Charlotte, Evelyn and Kennedy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Garth, Leo, Don, Ray, Jim, and sister, Rhea Nelson.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 22, 2017 at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6-7:30 P.M. and Friday morning from 9:30-10:45 A.M. at Nalder Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery with military rites by David B. Bleak Post 93 and the Idaho Honor Guard.
