After he left the Navy, he attended Eastern Idaho Technical College and then worked out at the site for several years until he suffered a heart attack. After that he worked at several jobs, including Butler Engineering as a rodman on the survey crew until retirement.
He lived in Woodville with his parents during their declining years and helped take care of them until they passed away. He continued to live in the family home after the passing of his parents.
