Verla Evelyn Nelson

Verla Evelyn Nelson, 77, of Shelley passed away October 23, 2012 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.

She was born May 3, 1935 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Lloyd Sheppard and Vilo Plant. She grew up Blackfoot where she attended school and graduated from Blackfoot High School. She married Wilford Neil Staples August 21, 1954 and their marriage was solemnized May 24, 1965 in the Idaho Falls Temple. He passed away December 13, 1981. She married Raymond Nelson February 28, 1983, He passed away February 24, 1991.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She worked at Idaho Supreme, Circle Valley, RT French Co., Pillsbury and Kingston where she retired. She loved to cook, sew, work in her garden and canning.

She is survived by her children; Mary Ann (Eric) Newman of Pocatello; Ronald (Jean) Staples of Idaho Falls; Catherine (Mark) Williams of Shelley; Kenneth (Kelly) Staples of Shelley; Jeanette Jorgensen of Idaho Falls; Robert Staples of Goshen; James Staples of Goshen and Douglas (Stacey) Staples of Blackfoot. Sisters; Zelda Larson of Emmett; Alice (Joe) Worthen of Hamer and Connie (Vernal) Olson of Wendell. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Wilford Neil Staples and Raymond Nelson and a brother Leland Sheppard.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 27 at the Presto Ward Chapel (792 North 1090 East). The family will visit with friends Saturday morning from 11:30 till 12:45 A.M. at the church. Burial will be in the Goshen Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley.
