Vertie Elizabeth Cobb King, 95, of Shelley, Idaho, passed away Dec. 22, 2008 at home under hospice care.
She was born March 3, 1913 in Oklahoma to Robert and Johnnie Cobb. She was the youngest of five children where she grew up in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
She married Clarence King in 1936 in Kermit. They lived in Monahans and later, settled in Fort Worth. They had one child.
She was a bow maker for Pangburn’s Candy Company and later made silk flowers for Dark Silk Flowers. In 1979, Clarence passed away. She continued to reside in Fort Worth until 1997, when she moved to Shelley, Idaho to live with her son, Bobby and his wife, Robbie.
Survivors include her son Bobby, her grandchildren: Rob King (Carolyn) of Edgecliff Village, Cobi King (Cheryl) of Shelley, Idaho, Christy King-Dewveall (Scott) of Blackfoot, Idaho and five great-grandchildren: Kendrick King, Trey King, Blake Dewveall, Preston King and Adyson King.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Johnnie Cobb and her husband, Clarence, and her siblings, Lena Cobb, Margaret Malicoat, Edna McLeod, and Henry Cobb.
Graveside services will be held at 1 PM on Monday Dec. 29 at Everman Cemetery, under the direction of Lucas Funeral Home.
