Weldon Frank Stevens, 83, of Shelley passed away peacefully at his home March 6, 2016 under the gracious care of Hearts for Hospice.
He was born March 2, 1933 in Dubois, Idaho to Heber and Jessie Stevens.
Weldon spent his early childhood in Spencer where he learned a love for fishing. He was known to catch bull heads and trade them for rides on the trains passing through earning him the name “Bull head Stevens”.
Weldon served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon returning home he was reacquainted with Reada Butler, who he married on June 2, 1956 in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Weldon had many jobs that provided for his family. He always worked hard excepting jobs other didn’t want. Weldon had a talent for making things work and never quitting until the job was done. He retired from Basic American in Shelley in 1997 after 31 years.
Weldon and Reada Celebrated 59 years together and had four children, 12 Grandchildren and nine Great Grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 12:00 noon Thursday, March 10, 2016 at the Spencer Cemetery with military rites. Arrangements under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to your favorite charity in Weldon’s name.
